Students at Newport El are writing everyday!

Our students love to share their writing with an audience that reaches beyond their classrooms. Our hope is that you will read and enjoy the writing we have posted. Check out each of the grade level tabs above.

We'd love to hear what you think! What did you like about the writing? What could be improved? How did you connect?

My Dad
I admire my dad because of his many traits of kindness and his personality.  My dad is a one and only special dad.  He never breaks his promises.  For example, I told him that our ramps are broken and he said he will work on it when I’m at school.  When I got home the ramps were really fixed.  Another thing I admire about my dad, are the random acts of kindness that he does every day, no matter what.  He does it in stores, on trips, at home, and all over the place.  My dad has a great sense of humor.  He does jokes when you are feeling sad, he does jokes when you feel happy also.  I look up to him anyway I can.  He cares for anything he loves or has anyway he can.  For example, if one of the family members gets hurt, he comforts them and tries to make them feel better.  I think everyone should look up to him and like him.  He is a loving and caring person.  I know he love me and I love him.  The person I admire is my awesome day, Everette.  (Last name was removed to protect privacy)

A Person I Admire
When I think of my great grandpa, I think of movies, kindness, and cars.  I admire my great grandpa because he basically started the movie theater.  He didn’t start the Edwards Theater because of the money.  He opened it because he wanted other people to be able to watch any movie.  This makes him very caring and kind to others.  He is kind because he always gave money to his church, homeless people, and when earthquakes strike he always gave money to them.  My great grandpa changed my life and everyone’s around him by watching out for other people, putting them first, and for me passing down all of his toy car collection.  I hope maybe I will get the rest of his collection some day because I think I would take as much care of them as he did.  I learned from him if you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything you want.

Cosette!
Cosette means the world to me.  Sure, we’ve been through some tough times together, but our friendship still works out.  She is the most generous person I’ve ever met.  She is the best friend I could ever have.
She is the only person I’ve met who has the same likes and dislikes as me.  She is so creative.  When I got to her house we always have a fun time together.  She always takes me on vacations.
She also taught me how to swim in the first grade.  She has always been there for me since the start.  She is probably the only person that I can be with for the whole day.  Cosette always says positive things about me.
We love having parties together.  She helps me.  If she was a celebrity, she would be my inspiration.  Cosette is pretty, loyal, wild, smart, meaningful and super kind.  That is why she is my best friend.

The person I Admire
The person I admire is my dad, Tom.  I admire him because of his talents.  He has many talents including running, playing football, baseball and lots of other fixing and sports activities.  Another reason I admire him is because he is funny, caring, happy, and always helps me when I’m stuck on something like friends, school, or even home.  He has taught me lots of sports and how to play.  He loves to play with me and my sister outside or on the Wii.  My dad and me always love to go hunting in Arizona when we have free time.  It is so fun, and that is the person I admire most.

Vittoria
My friend Vittoria or Vivi is one of my best friends.  I’ve known her for 4 years, and we’ve done a lot of things together like going to Colorado.  She was born in Florence, Italy.  She is humble, creative, and very generous.
Vivi and I like the same books, movies, and style.  She has pretty good style if I do say so myself.  I know a lot of things about her like her birthday, April 26th.  One time I was at the dinner for her brother’s birthday and my tooth fell out, right there.  Probably half the teeth I loose is at her house.
The first time I met her was her first day a Newport Elementary in about 2nd grade.  She was a small girl with hazel eyes and long chestnut hair.  She was adorable!  I was the one to show her around.  I showed her the girls’ bathroom and told her it was haunted and she ran out screaming.
We’ve had some pretty good times together and I know we’ll be good friends for a long time.  The only not-so-good part is that she might be going back to Italy next year and I’ll be so sad if she does!  All I can do is hope not.  Vivi is so great and I can’t bear her leaving!
