Students at Newport El are writing everyday!

Our students love to share their writing with an audience that reaches beyond their classrooms. Our hope is that you will read and enjoy the writing we have posted. Check out each of the grade level tabs above.

We'd love to hear what you think! What did you like about the writing? What could be improved? How did you connect?

Spencer and Chad
I admire Spencer and Chad XXX (Last name was removed to protect privacy) because they taught me how to play football.  Chad lets me tackle him.  Spencer always picks me to be on his team.  They both are very nice.  Spencer gave me an entire pack of Lifesavers and gave me two gumballs.  Spencer is nine and I think Chad is six or seven.  Chad is really good at football and so is spencer.  We all go surfing every Saturday and Sunday.  The only time we don’t go surfing on the weekends together is if one of us can’t make it or they don’t want to go.  Spencer sometimes says they can win a football game without me.  These boys also have some cordial parents.  Spencer’s real name is John Spencer XXX (Last name was removed to protect privacy) He goes by Spencer because Spencer is his middle name.  We have been friends since kindergarten.  The only problem is I can’t remember how we met.  I’ll ask Spencer if he knows.  He probably won’t, but I’ll still ask.  These are the reasons why I admire Spencer and Chad XXX(Last name was removed to protect privacy)

Someone I Admire
I admire my dance teacher Taryn XXX. (Last name was removed to protect privacy)  I think she’s a great person because she has two children, Parker and Tegan, but still teaches people how to dance.  She can be sick, but she’ll still come to work no matter how bad it is.  She can have helpers, but she doesn’t leave ‘til work is through.  I also admire her because she works every weekday.  She teaches us new things every time I come to the studio.  I think she can be man sometimes, but it’s only because she wants us to win the competition or wants us to get better.  I know she makes great dances and helps us get better because we win the competitions a lot.  We might get second, but we still are proud of what we accomplished.  She also tells us our mistakes so we can try to fix them.  That’s why I admire my dance teacher.

Grandma
I admire my grandma because she is very, very funny and we have a secret language.  I think she and my dad a the best cooks in the world.  Whenever my grandma comes down from our cabin in Green Valley Lake, she and I make something that I have never made before.  Usually, we go on picnics in the afternoon if we aren’t tired.  When we wake-up in the morning I go and hop in our guest bed with her and talk.  When we are done talking we go downstairs, watch t.v. and I have hot coco and she has tea.  That’s why I admire my very loving grandma.

Who I Admire
I met the person I admire a couple weeks after my mom and dad got divorced.  At first I was a little shy, but now we’re really good friends.  He just turned 13 and his name is Hayden.  I admire him for his good traits.  One of them is trustworthiness.  There are lots of other ones, but I can’t remember them.  Sometimes, we’d get into little fights about basically nothing.  Like one time, I borrowed a pair of socks and he freaked out about it.  He is my best friend and that’s why I admire Hayden, my stepbrother.

A Person I Admire
One of the many people I admire is my little brother, Stephen.  He is small, cute, chubby, and likes to wrestle.  He has many nick names, but the one that most fits him is Monkey.  He loves to climb.  He will climb anything from a tree to the sink you name it he climbed it.  Stephen is very skinny and picky, but he really likes adventure stories.  We like to walk on rocks together at the beach.  Stephen really likes to learn new things.  He also likes to make new friends,  But, you don’t want to mess with him when he’s angry.  Like I said earlier, one of the many people I admire is Stephen.  I guess you can call him a mini me.

Who I Admire
Jesse has changed a few things in my life.  He is the best fisherman I have known.  Jesse has caught Seabass, Tuna, and Halibut.  He taught me how to surf, fish, and will teach me how to snowboard.  Jesse is really funny with Mad Libs.  He can make me laugh easily.  We have a great time together.  That’s why I admire Jesse, my favorite stepdad.
