Students at Newport El are writing everyday!

Our students love to share their writing with an audience that reaches beyond their classrooms. Our hope is that you will read and enjoy the writing we have posted. Check out each of the grade level tabs above.

We'd love to hear what you think! What did you like about the writing? What could be improved? How did you connect?

The Person I Admire!
The person I admire is my big brother Dralon.  Dralon is kind and generous.  Dralon is super trustworthy.  I can trust him anytime I want to.  He is a very good brother.  Another reason that I admire him is that he is a great sharer.  Like once he shared his toy cars.  And another reason is he teaches others to be nice.  Dralon is very, very, funny.  Like once, Dralon danced around in circles saying, “I’m a cow.”  And also he tickles me.  I’m very ticklish.  Dralon is a very good tickler.  That’s another talent of him.  He is a great tickler.  He can even tickle our dad!  And, it’s like my dad is never ticklish!  He is only ticklish if Dralon does it.  And those are all of the reason I admire Dralon.

A Person I Admire
The person I admire is my dad.  He is great at break dancing.  He is as silly as a clown.  He is a nice, teaching dad.  He works a lot so we could have a house.  He is a very smart dad.  He likes to play with me, but sometimes he cannot play with me because they’re divorced.  He gave me healthy food so I could be strong and healthy.  He cannot run fast because his foot is in pain.  He is helpful when I am making something.  He has to wear shoes all day because his foot hurts.  He is awesome at writing.  He taught me a lot of things like skateboarding and teaching me how to cook.  He has a big computer so he can see well because he sometimes wears glasses.  He really loves it when I finish my homework.  He changed my life when I was a baby to follow Jesus.  He also loves to see me finishing something.  He sometimes sees me doing something when he doesn’t tell me to.  When he scares me he says, “woo ha ha ha ha!”  He is a great dad.  He laughs weird when we are playing together.  He can play football but he can either throw it or hand it off.  He loves me a lot!!!!!!  I love my dad.

A Person I Admire
A person I admire is my mom.  A few things that describe her are she is kind, caring and she is really funny.  This is the reason why she is important to me.  She is very special to me because she is my mom and she made me.  This is a very important reason.  I have noticed lately she has been funnier than usual.  I am really happy she is.  She is also very smart.  My mom has very good hand printing too.  I want to list a few more things that describe her like she is loving, responsible, generous, incredible, intelligent, sweet and trustful.  I really appreciate that.  I learn from her.  She taught me how to take better care of myself.
When I was little I couldn’t say mommy so I called her memo.  My mom’s heart sank probably when I said it.  My mom also looks out for me.  A talent that she has is helping me with my homework.  She is also always on time.  She always worries about my stuff first and that is really nice of her.  My mom changed my life by making me.  I would not be here if my mom didn’t have me.
My mom takes care of me by giving me clothes and food and water and a house and I am very happy that she gave me that.  She also gives me toys and all kinds of stuff she makes me so happy I could scream.  I love my mom so much.  Do you have a person you admire?  I don’t just have one I have a lot.  There is one more thing I have to say.  I love my mom so much and she loves me too.
Sami, Second Grade
The person I most admire is my mom.  She taught me how to read and now I’m great at reading.  She brought me to the Earth so if it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be here.  She lets me sleep in her bed if I’m having trouble sleeping.  She feeds me and encourages me to learn to roller-skate.  She takes me to the doctor when I’m sick.  She loves me and keeps me safe.  She also takes me to fun places like the beach or pool.  She taught me how to write and pays for me to go to school.  She buys me warm clothes and toys.  And, she loves me.  That is why I admire my mom.
Deven, Second Grade

The person I admire is Dr. Nagy.  Dr. Nagy is our principal.  She is very, very, very nice to all of us!  She is the friendliest principal in the whole universe!  She encouraged me to learn to respect others and be giving.  Another thing, like the last thing I learned from her, is to be responsible and I am now very responsible.  At first I wasn’t, but I am now because she taught me to be!  I love Dr. Nagy very much.  She is so nice.
Geneva, Second Grade
The person I admire is Charlotte XXX. (The last name was removed to protect student privacy)  She is my best friend.  She is friendly, caring and very encouraging.  She has always been there for me when I need to talk to someone.  She’s the first best friend I ever made at Newport Elementary School.  I always trust her when I tell her secrets.  These are the reasons why I admire Charlotte XXX, my best friend.
Madison, Second Grade
A person I admire is Tori Hunter.  One of the reasons is because he gave his autograph to me 4 times.  Tori Hunter has a special talent.  It is baseball.  He won the Golden Glove award a bunch of times.  Some of the character traits this person has that I admire is he is always happy and nice.  He is a great baseball player.  This person changed my life by inspiring me to love baseball.  He also inspired me to find a place to play baseball almost anywhere such as the shower, my bedroom, my mom and dad’s bedroom, and the living room.  Tori Hunter is nice to his teammates, fans, family, and sick people.  He is happy when he signs autographs for crazed fans.  Watching him play baseball made me learn some little things like how to make a diving catch and how to hold the baseball bat.  He is one of my favorite baseball players.  I am his number one fan.
Mason, Second Grade
A person I admire is Tess, my BFF.  Tess’s character traits are being a kind friend, selfless, and not thinking of herself.  Also, she is awesome and cool and funny.  She is always making me laugh.  I learned some double digit math from her.  She is smart too.  She can do math.  She has special talents too!  She is good at tennis and jazz dancing.  I like jazz too.  But, I’m not so good at tennis.  She changed my life by being my friend.  I had never had her as a friend before.  Now she is my BFF (best friend forever).  She plays with Jack, Adam, and I.  She invited me to her birthday when we weren’t even BFFs yet.  I admire her most because she is an awesome friend.  We look the same too.  We both have blonde hair and blue eyes.  I think she is very nice and kind.  She thinks about others.  She also makes sure everyone agrees with each other.  We play in harmony.  She wants peace like Martin Luther King Jr.  I think if everyone was like her this world would be the best place ever!  The End.
Haley, Second Grade

A person I admire is Mike Napoli.  He is a baseball player.  He got 12 grand slams in a whole season.  He gives people autographs.  He made me a better player and he made me have a better stance.  In 2008 he was on the Angels.  That’s when the Angels had the best team I think.  Now, he is on the Texas Rangers.  Mike Napoli has made my life better by teaching me to never give up in baseball and other sports.  He is a catcher and a first baseman for the Texas Rangers.  He is smart, hardy and caring.  He is caring because he is not self-centered and he cares for others by giving people autographs.  Mike Sosa had to trade him because he could not pay for his salary.  He would still be on the Angels if Mike Sosa did not make that bad trade.  He is very good.  He also gets doubles and triples.  He is a very good catcher and first baseman.  He has blonde hair.  He has a buzz just like me.  I think he has blue eyes.  He is my second favorite baseball player.  Vladimir Guerrero is my favorite player.  He is on the Baltimore Orioles.  Do you like Mike Napoli?
